PPP TUTORIAL
Today we had our tutorial with John he spoke about PPP as a whole and how important our blogs are. PPP is a blog to document what informs your practice.
- We need to know what we are going to do when we leave and begin thinking about it.
- George Lois (Damn good advice) http://www.georgelois.com/pages/Books/DGA.html
- How people can develop a personality through design , we leave and have portfolios what it should also have is the personality to go with it.
- Be yourself is good advice when you go for an interview. Don't hide behind your portfolio
- Write about how we have developed as people not just graphic design but as a person.
- Things that you see inform you practice no matter what they are or how long ago they will always inform your practice.
- Document about talks and exhibitions be objective you don't always agree with what they are saying.
- Make sure you use your personality because people are either going to like your or there not.
- Make people feel comfortable and be yourself.
- Get out of your comfort zone
- Portfolio 8 pieces of work - love every piece of work you've done. If you don't like it you won't believe in it people will get that enthusiasm from you.
- Get your tone of voice right. Speak to them as human beings. There just like us.
- Ask for a visit not a placement ! say 30 mins come down for a chat see what there about.
- Give your self a time out don't push yourself so hard you will not be interested and no ideas will flow.
Today was really helpful John spoke about a lot of things that are really relevant for the third year. He made it clear how important it is to document everything even if its not Graphic design because everything informs our practice.
