Robot Food - Visit & Placement .

Robot Food Visit & Placement

Last Thursday i emailed Robot food and the creative director got back to me in regards to a placement.

Along with my email i sent a PDF with my work on it.

Meeting

Placement preparation:

Before the meeting i wanted to ensure i had went through the work sent and prepared other work to also show along with my online portfolio.

I showed a brief i was currently working on-

Up to date behance-

After talking through my work , Simon showed me some of there most recent work and there concepts behind them. I was showed around the Studio and introduced to people. I got to see work that was in progress and some recent pitches for clients.

I loved the studio and the atmosphere it was clear that when the studio receives briefs everyone is given a chance to pitch and put there concept forward and some times a few members of staff work collaboratively on a brief. This studio is exactly somewhere i would want to work. After looking around Simon asked me when was the best time i would be able to come for a placement as there are upsizing there studio we arranged i would go to robot food on June 15th for two weeks. I am really really pleased i have been given this opportunity and i am really looking forward to the experience at Robot Food.

Placement:

- Date:  June 15th

- Time Scale:  Two Weeks

Zara Mia - Development & Ended Brief Evaluation

Design Development

To begin the brief i decided based on the information given to me by Zara at our meeting i would start with logo variations. I began trying different typefaces and logos using combinations of san serif and serif and initials.

Logo development -

Variations 1-
Variations 2-

Variation 3 -

At this point i started to look at more logo type to try and combine the letters with parts missing.

Evaluation

At this point with the brief it has ended. After speaking to Zara on a number of occasions she hasn't been happy with the logo variations i had produced. In the meeting we discussed what she wanted designing and how she wanted the logo after i had sent over variations and changes the logo wasn't how she wanted it, as she she said she still was unsure about what she wanted.

I decided to leave the brief as i don't have the time to keep on making variations until Zara found out what she wanted. Its unfortunate as this brief would of been a good brief for my portfolio. On the agreement of doing the brief as it was through a student fashion networking night i was offered to do the brief free. I feel its been a good experience to work with a nice client who although helped plan what was needed to be done didn't really know how they wanted it designed. In future with clients i will make sure i know what is wanted from the beginning to save me wasting any time and so its possible for me to get the most out of it.

Zara Mia - Meeting & Brief

Brief 07 Zara Mia - Meeting
Meeting

Today i went to meet Zara Mia who i have been in contact with about a re-brand. We met up to discuss what work i would be producing for her and the direction of the branding she wanted it to go in.

We had a chat about what actual collateral she wanted produced and we made a list.

-  Rebrand Logo

-  Business Cards

-  Refined Colour scheme

-  Hangers

- Tags/Clothing tags

- Facebook and digital presences.

I emailed her a list of questions and we went through her answers.  I found this beneficial as it made it easier for me to understand her vision for the brand.

Questions:

No

I want it to reflect expensive, luxury ... unisex for future menswear

Simple but effective logo using the letters Z and M

The font simple with flick or slight quirks

What are the main points of your company’s branding you want to change and update?

 - logo

- font

- tag line

What is the audience for your brand?

Women that are Ageless, sizeless.

They know what they want.

They are independent creative and imaginative.

What should women think/feel when they view your clothing on any online platforms?

Confident

Empowered

Independent

Sensual

Give three examples of other clothing websites or brands you like, who’s branding you feel is strong (please make note of what you like about them)

Brands similar to mine

- strong structured shapes contrasting with soft drape
- androgyny

Examples of existing clothing brands gave by Zara:

Zara sent me these logos through email and explained how she liked the idea of the interlocking letters using the initials of her name. She liked how they are symmetrical. This is definitely a route that i will consider when producing logo variations.
Logos-

These websites are examples of online clothing platforms that inspire Zara. They are more contemporary and minimal when mocking up her website i will consider elements from all.

Adorned Rebrand

Adorned Rebrand

After going to the CFE night and meeting Lydia a few days later i received an email from her asking about the rebrand.I was really pleased as this brief is perfect for my extended practice.

I arranged a meeting with her for the 5th of February. I also sent her over some questions so she could answer them before our meeting similar to the questions i asked Zara Mia for my other fashion branding brief. The questions i have asked help define what the clients wants so it makes it easier when i begin my initial ideas.

The feel like the website needs updating and the logo. The flowers reflect more of a younger brand that the one its supposed to be.

I am looking forward to meeting with Lydia and hearing what she has in mind for the rebrand.

CFE Fashion Event - White Cloth Gallery

CFE

I recently received an email from Rosie Lynee's from Lamberts Yard inviting me to a Fashion event. A similar event as the one i was invited to before christmas that i couldn't make it to. This was a perfect opportunity to go along to , to gain some clients and network with people in the fashion business.

Tonight the event was held at white cloth gallery. There was a group of people sat in a room facing a table with three speakers. The speakers were Adam the buyer for Lamberts Yard,Sharon Owner from SLB Public Relations & Angela Quaintrell the guest speaker.

Sharon:

Although most of the talk and information given was mainly for fashion designers, the information about how to make your own brand different and getting people to stop and look at what you have created i have applied that knowledge to my own branding and graphic design.

Networking:

When the talk finished at the end I was speaking to a girl who i had already been speaking to through email (Zara Mia). Her friend Lydia then asked me if i would be interested in do some branding for her. I am really pleased i went to the event so i made another client and also gained a possible live brief. I gave Lydia my email address so i hope to speak to her soon.

Before leaving i managed to speak to Adam the buyer at Lambert's Yard, I told him what i was interested in and how i wanted to do produce Graphic design for clothing label brands and company. He told me to speak to Rosie and we can go for a Coffee as there might be some possible free lance work for me to do as there looking for a graphic designer. I am really pleased i went to this fashion networking night as i have spoken to people and made my self known to people who work in fashion or have there own businesses.
