Evaluation-
We were group 7 and we got given 10'000 steps. Methods we used for our research were mainly done on the internet we started off by getting the basic information about 10,000 steps then we started to go more into depth - searching the benefits and the positive things that walking 10,00 steps a day can give to you.
There was 6 of us in a group so it was easy to designate different people different things to research into , e.g. benefits & different types of walking. once we had decided on doing a publication we designated different people different roles and pages. We all took it upon ourselves to research into different styles of publications i felt this really appropriate as we doing different styles of layout design and page setups in other sessions.
The whole idea behind our publication was created so that it doesn't look like any other fitness guide , so its innovative effective & interesting , but not to the point where theres to much information that its unappealing.
The most useful methods for gathering research and evidence in our group would be the internet. we also looked a lot at the 'whatever you think think the opposite' book by Paul Adren. The internet was most useful because there was so much important information from the facts and figures , influence for our layout designs and then finding inspirational quotes for the publication made it all come together.
I think if we were to repeat this brief more primary research such as speaking to people in gyms or dog walkers could of possibly made our idea and publication a little stronger. All the information we used was simple and straight to the point interesting facts that you properly didn't know worked well to make the publication unique.
Managing the work load as a part of a group was more than easy , as working in a group of 6 people who didn't miss any arranged meets or had any days of uni was really beneficial. I felt as though there wasn't enough work for everybody to constantly be doing something so after we designated certain people work there was always extra ideas and things people could come up with them selves to contribute and spend some time on to make our final product as good as it good be. I loved working in the group i was in because we all got along really well and made good points and were things didn't work we spoke about it and addressed it.
My roles in the group :-
Finding inspirational quotes
Creating two double page spreads for the publication
creating email address & twitter - update the twitter with inspirational quotes
Design the website & Distribution of the balloons.
Problems we faced:- It turned out that what we had originally planned which was to distribute the publications to gyms would cost far to much money it would cost £4.00 per publication and to be more cost effective we decided to make double sided laminated inspirational quotes to attach to balloons as another way of making our hit the road group more viral. I found myself creating a logo as well as another two people in the group because we didn't communicate about the logo as well as we could. It didn't matter because its all practice and we looked at what didn't work on everyones logos and what did.
What i could change:- It also turned out that once laminated the little flyers were slightly to heavy for one balloon per flyer so we had to attach two balloons! they still looked good but if we were to repeat the brief we would take the size of the flyer into consideration. Although everyone in the group come up with something really good to contribute to the final product some people did more than others so maybe next time we could make more jobs and make more of a written timetable this would help people to know where they are and know what everybody else is doing.
Overall the group i was part of were hard working and we came out with a really good final product , after receiving feedback from Amber & Simon in the presentation that our work was really consistent and worked well was really good to hear after working on this brief for two and half weeks it all come together really well. Apart from the cost of the publications everything we wanted to happen with 'Hit the Road' worked and I've loved this brief.
