Studio brief 3 - Evaluation

STUDIO BRIEF 3 - EVALUATION

For studio brief 3 - LIFES A PITCH! I was in a group with Pri , Ewan , Sean & James. I had only worked with two of the boys in the group before so i was really looking forward to seeing what everyone had to offer. I loved working in the group i was in all the meetings that i had set up were all attended by everyone even over the easter break everyone made the effort.

I think this type of brief was exciting because we haven't done anything similar like this before so it was a change.I think working in a group was enjoyable we all got on well and didn't have any disagreements. To begin with we sat around and made a list of some names we could possibly call ourselves and as we were struggling we moved on to location ect.. then went back to the name.

We decided to call ourselves 'Stvdio' as there were five us us the letter 'v' replaced the 'u' in studio like the roman numeral. I wasn't sure on the idea at first as people might not understand but the more we used our branding across our presentation i felt it began to work and i was pleased with it. I think the only problem i faced in the group was not getting involved in the money side as much as i would of liked to i think its so important to know about these kind of things especially so close to the third year and finishing the corse. Overall i did look into other peoples roles we did make a lot of decisions as a group.

I think my strength with in the group was probably organisation skills as i wanted everyone to meet up together so know one missed anything. I would definitely like to do this again in the third year. As there was somethings i felt i may of missed from working in the group i will set my self some targets for next year.

Yearly outgoings & Job Roles

YEARLY OUTGOINGS & JOB ROLES

We worked out our yearly outgoings based on the costs we would spend.
  • Chairs
  • Internet phone
  • Stationary
  • Office space

We also arranged who would have what job role in our group first by making a list of the different types of jobs within the industry.

 These were our designated roles-

Print Director-

The role given to me within my ppp group is the print director so i felt i would do some research to find some details about the job description.

Print Director/Manager

The Print Production Manager is responsible for the planning, execution and project management of the company's entire process of print production within marketing direct mail acquisitions and fulfillment manufacturing. This includes the supply chain process for all print production requirements from planning, RFQ, through delivery of components and letter shop. In addition, the Manager will liaise internally and externally with vendors, while managing the flow of information to ensure timely and efficient delivery to customers.

Branding - Type & Colour choices

TYPE & COLOUR CHOICES

Another one of my roles in PPP was to help brand our studio we had already decided on the logo so it was a case of finding the best colours appropriate to match our design styles.

Avenir & Didot

We preferred the first choice. We have specifically used the letter V instead of a U so that it represents the five in roman numerals and the five people in our group.

Experimentation.

I used lots of colour pallets until i found the appropriate choice.

After showing the group my final experimentation everyone agreed to keep our logo black but use the cream and black for our design aesthetics.

Final -

Establishing our Studio Aesthetics

STUDIO AESTHETICS

As part of my role in the group i researched some aesthetics for our studio. We wanted it to be a nice environment for when our clients came for a visit. I made sure i kept our list in mind when looking for the perfect office space.

FINAL CHOICE-

My Role

MY ROLES

  • AESTHETIC RESEARCH
  • BRANDING

Within the group my roles were to look for aesthetics of what our studio would look.  We all mentioned a list of things we would look for in our studio and how it would affect our worth flow.

  • Bright lighting
  • spacious
  • Art work on walls
  • Bright colours
  • Ping pong table
  • Music
I read online how having a space with bright lighting helps the creative flow. Another one of my roles is to find appropriate colour pallets and design the branding for our studio. I will use these online sources to help with the Aesthetics and inspiration for my job roles with in the group.
