Creative Interests Study Task 3 OUGD402

Creative Interests

In the studio we looked at the information we had to collect for the last studio brief which was the 5 examples of each sub categories we had chosen e.g.. minimalist... We then had to cut the examples out and chose one from each category giving us a wider range. We had to write on the back of each small image the answers to the following statements.
  • Function
  • Design Context
  • Tone of Voice
  • Message / Idea / Concept
  • Intended Scale / Place of delivery
We made a list of the points in each category..

Function - to inform , to instruct , promote , educate , to warn , advertise , explain , entertain and to express.

Design Context  - Branding , publishing , campaigning , gender , style , different age group , audience , groups , class.

Tone of voice - Audience , Formal , playful , anatomical , proud , chatty , simplistic , witty , serious , informal , angry.

Message / Idea / Concept - Awareness , teach , inspire , design , specifics , recycle , club promotions , events polictical , poverty , function , decorative.

Scale & Place of Delivery - a2 a3 a4 a5 , bus stations , train stations , magazines, shop windows , websites , marketing , post.

Next we had to identify a rang of examples in the above 5 categories...

Function:-

This poster is for an event it informs i love the coloured pattern behind the text its bright and stands out.

I think Info graphics are a good example of 'funtion' because they promote and educate.

These are sale flyers , they promote advertise and explain.

Design Context:-

This small stickers that are on this stationary pack work really well because there simple and minimalist and i don't think they would work anywhere else.

This text that is painted on the wall works because its in the right context  - outside , it wouldn't work anywhere else apart from out doors due to the word.

This is an edition of a preppy school I.D magazine issue. The clothes and accessories in the photography work for the theme of the addition.

Tone of voice:-

The tone of voice for this image is anatomical it uses body parts and veins to illustrate the letters of the words.

This tone of voice for this image would be humerous.

I found this image on a blog i think its humorous and also playful.

The tone of voice for this NHS poster is informative.

Message / Idea / Concept:-

These three posters are for club night events they are bold and asthetically pleasing.

These are both very common signs that are noticed everywhere and work as a small and large logo they inform and people know what they mean.

Scale & Place of Delivery:-

This stamp has large bold text but in a small scaled rectangle.

This billboard is the opposite and has text featured in the middle of a large billboard at a large scale.

clothing tags - small scale.

Banksy - wall art , large scale on street walls.

This stamp has been created to print onto lots of small sized pieces of paper or scrap. It is a business card stamp so people would be able to give you there details and you could easily put it onto some paper or the back of a note pad ect. I love this idea.
