1 What skills have you developed through this
module and how effectively do you think you have applied them?
I have learnt variety of colour
theory knowledge, which has helped me with designing my work and making things
more legible and aesthetically pleasing. Developing my understanding about type
has really changed my outlook on one of the biggest aspects of graphic design
I’ve developed skills such as knowing how to use the Fibonacci sequence,
applying grids to my work. Learning more
in to depth about visual literacy and language has improved my skills and made
me more aware of whats around me and how well things are communicated.
2 What
approaches to/methods of design production have you developed and how have they
informed your design development process?
I’ve
developed my InDesign skills because I’m only used to using illustrator and
Photoshop, InDesign was a bit difficult at first once I had developed a better
understanding of grids and layouts it was so easy to apply them for my design
work in the programme. I also feel as though we did a lot of thumbnails and
design ideas for this module and its helped me realise how important
brainstorming and creating layouts on paper before making them digital does
make a difference
3 What
strengths can you identify in your work and how have/will you capitalise on
these?
My strengths would be learning
the InDesign programme and definitely the use of grids and using the Fibonacci
sequence to create custom paper sizes. It makes your work more personal and
interesting.
I
will further my use of InDesign programme with future publications. Also strength
of mine would be that I found it really easy and helpful creating digital
layouts fast so I could always choose the most appropriate grids for my work
4 What
weaknesses can you identify in your work and how will you address these in the
future?
I would say my understanding of
colour theory wasn’t the best to begin with; I think I could have improved this
by doing more research and also more experiments to further my understanding.
Although I did create a lot of thumbnails and digital mock-ups there’s always
room for more I will make sure in further briefs to do more initial ideas.
5. Identify
five things that you will do differently next time and what do you expect to
gain from doing these?
·
Try more paper sizes and prototypes before choosing
one. This would make my outcome the best it could be.
·
I will create more thumbnails and initial ideas
before making them digital to get a wide range and more of a choice for the
best designs.
·
More research, to further my understanding and
ability also more experiments this would help me to see what works and what
doesn’t.
·
I will carry on to use InDesign and further my skills
for future briefs and further work.
·
Make sure I analyse my work more and write more so
that when I refer back to research it will make more sense and I can get a
clearer understanding.
